Job Duties

Administers and oversees all operations of the police and fire services within the Public Safety Department. Supervises all personnel ensuring that law and order are maintained, laws and ordinances enforced and that all departmental operations are properly maintained and implemented. Works under stressful, high-risk conditions. (Reports to Town Manager)

Qualifications

MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with 10 to 15 years experience in law enforcement/fire supervision, 5 of which at management level; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must have successfully completed required courses at the S. C. Criminal Justice Academy and Fire Academy, and hold required certifications. Must possess a valid S. C. driver’s license. No criminal history.
