Welcome to the Municipal Association of South Carolina. The Association is a nonprofit organization representing all of South Carolina’s 271 cities and towns. The Association is dedicated to the principles established by the cities and towns that founded it: to offer the services, programs and products that will give municipal officials the knowledge, experience and tools necessary to operate efficiently and effectively in the complex world of local government.

What We’re Searching For

The Municipal Association of South Carolina is accepting resumes for the position of claims adjuster for the workers’ compensation insurance program. 

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Reviews, investigates, analyzes and adjusts workers’ compensation claims in accordance with current laws and regulations; and responsible for all aspects of each claim, including but not limited to, informal conferences and hearings, mediation and claims litigation.
  • Reviews, examines, monitors and reports on Medicare beneficiary compliance for worker compensation claims.
  • Travels occasionally in-state to conduct member visits; and meets with assigned members at their location for annual visits and as necessary to conduct investigations.
Qualifications

Qualifications included but are not limited to: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or education and training equivalent to four years of college education in business administration, public administration, risk management or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in subrogation or workers’ compensation claims adjudication. Public sector knowledge/experience is a plus.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and a valid SC Claims Adjuster license. Associate in Claims designation is preferred. 
  • Fundamental knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance legal and regulatory environment; proven ability to negotiate fair and equitable claims settlements; and demonstrated above average interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills, as well as written and verbal communication.
Pay Info
Competitive salary commensurate with experience and an excellent benefits package including South Carolina State Retirement and insurance. Flexible work arrangements are available after a training and orientation period.
