Communications and Public Information Coordinator , City of Greer
Works with a videographer, photographer, or independently to gather video, photos, interviews, and information to produce digital content on behalf of the City of Greer. Educates and builds public awareness of City of Greer initiatives, programs, policies, services, and events on multiple platforms including social media, websites, YouTube, and others. Serves as the city’s primary media contact and fosters relationships with reporters and editors from print, broadcast, and online media.
Helps plan and execute engaging events for the media and the community. Coordinates the sharing of public information through the city’s FOIA platform. Maintains a content calendar for the communications team. Helps maintain the city’s websites and mobile apps. Fosters internal and external communications through digital newsletters. Meets regularly with representatives from all city departments to foster connection and communication.
Engages audiences through established channels and identifies emerging opportunities for communications and collaboration. Produces graphic elements to support the efforts of the Communications team as well as other city departments. Suggests and implements new features to develop brand awareness. Occasionally works non-traditional hours to support city events and initiatives
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Two (2) years of experience or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, community service, or related field. Excellent storytelling skills and writing skills. Strong public speaking skills.
Experience in developing integrated digital media communication strategies and content for social media channels. Proficiency with video editing software such as Adobe Premier and CapCut. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and similar platforms to produce digital media.
Experience as a reporter, producer or videographer with on-camera news reporting, preferred. A valid state-issued drivers’ license.
