Division Superintendent-Grounds, City of Greenwood
Under limited supervision, this position directs crew members in performing assignments related to maintenance of grounds, ensuring efficient, proper and safe completion of tasks. Performs related duties such as preparing paperwork, computer data entry, ensuring repair and maintenance and assisting in preparing annual budgets. Reports to the Public Works Director
• Directs crew members in performing grounds maintenance assignments. • Performs supervisory duties, including instructing, assigning, reviewing, and planning the work of subordinates, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, acting on employee problems, selecting new employees, and recommending transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions, discharges, and salary increases. Solves any work-related issues.
• Schedules maintenance of right of ways, parks, Uptown areas, and other locations outside of the Uptown, such as but not limited to, mowing of lawns, weed eating, edging, shrub trimming, tree pruning, mulching, spraying, etc. • Receives and investigates complaints from the public. • Assists the Events Coordinator in the setup and breakdown of events. • Schedules maintenance of street signs. • Assists with the operation of the splash pad.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent, three to five years of supervisory experience and experience in grounds maintenance, or any equivalent combination of training and experience Division Supervisor Page 2 that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Must possess a valid SC driver’s license; a commercial driver’s license is preferred, and a certified pesticide applicator license.
