Job Duties

The Town of Lexington is accepting applications for the position of Waste Water Supervisor in the Utilities Department. Under general supervision, assists the Utilities Superintendent and Utilities Director in the operation and maintenance of the Town’s water and wastewater systems. Plans, coordinates and manages the various daily operation and maintenance activities of the Town’s water and/or sewer systems.

Performs various supervisory duties including instructing staff, assigning and reviewing work, acting on employee problems and providing documented input on disciplinary issues and/or annual reviews. Performs all work in compliance with applicable regulations, codes and ordinances. Provides a work environment that encourages clear and open communications and serves as a mentor to junior staff.

This position is considered essential personnel. As ‘essential personnel’, may be called 24 hours per day, seven days per week for emergency responses. Reports directly to the Utilities Superintendent. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

Position requires a high school diploma or GED. Must have at least four years or more of water and/or wastewater experience; minimum of one year in a supervisory role. Must possess the SC Water Distribution Operator-Class B certification and the WEASC Collection System-Class B certification. All certifications must be maintained thereafter.

A SC class B CDL with tanker endorsement is required. Must have completed, retained and is able to enforce various training, including, but not limited to: asbestos O & M facility worker license, CPR/First Aid certification, competent person/confined space entry certification, traffic safety, pumps and pumping, electrical fundamentals, etc.
