Hurisheo Jones Joins Risk Management Services as SCMIT Claims Adjuster

Work Experience: Hurisheo Jones has over 10 years of experience in the insurance industry working as a call center representative and a subrogation specialist. Most recently, he worked as an account advocate at BlueCross BlueShield for Health Insurance Casework System.

Spotlight on Risk Management Services’ Board Members
SCMIRF Board Member Neil Parsons
Elected in 2022, Neil Parsons has served on the SC Municipal Insurance and Risk Financing Fund board for two years. He has been the director of administrative services for the City of Hardeeville since 2020. He previously served as the grants administrator/project coordinator for the city from 2017 – 2020. He has also held various positions at different nonprofits, healthcare organizations and educational institutions such as director of institutional advancement at John Paul II Catholic School, director of business development and facilities at Addiction Recovery Care and director of clinical services and properties at Highlands Health System.
Parsons obtained a Bachelor of Science in environmental science from Morehead State University. He also has a Master of Health Administration from the University of Arkansas Grantham and a Master of Public Administration from Arkansas State University. He is a graduate of the SC Economic Development Institute and the Municipal Association of SC’s Risk Management Institute.
He is a member of the Bluffton Self Help board, Lowcountry Legal Volunteers board and secretary of the Hardeeville Community Transformation Foundation board.
In his spare time, he enjoys traveling. He has a goal to visit all 50 states and explore more than 50% of the national parks.
SCMIT Board Member Blake Stone
Elected in 2023, Blake Stone has served on the SC Municipal Insurance Trust board for one year. He has been the city manager for the City of Abbeville since 2017. He previously served as assistant city manager for the city from 2016 – 2017.
Stone obtained a Master of Science in public administration from Clemson University.
He was the chair of the Piedmont Municipal Power Agency for four years and the director three years prior to his appointment as chair. He was a founding member of the Abbeville County Economic Development Partnership and the Abbeville Community Performing Arts board.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending type with his three sons and jogging.
OSHA 10-hour General Industry Training Held in April
Risk Management Services offered an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry training in Columbia on April 16 – 17. Tamara Rodriguez of Antum Risk was the speaker. Participants received 10 hours of Occupational Safety and Health Administration instruction on many topics including hazard communication, exit routes, personal protective equipment, fall protection and accident investigation.
Law Enforcement Training Focuses on Recruitment, Distracted Driving
Risk Management Services offered a Recruiting and Hiring Law Enforcement Officers/Distracted Driving for Law Enforcement training in Columbia on May 14. Eric Skidmore, program manager for SC Law Enforcement Assistance Program presented on the wellness resources available to law enforcement officers. A presentation on “Recruiting and Hiring Law Enforcement Officers” was presented by Kevin Sturm of Sturm and Cont, P.A. The afternoon session on distracted driving was presented by Master Trooper William Bennett of SC Highway Patrol. Law enforcement officers were able to receive continued education credit approved by SC Criminal Justice Academy for attending the training.
