School Resource Officer, Moncks Corner Police Department
Under regular supervision, the School Resource Officer (SRO) responds to calls for service involving assigned schools and patrols campus of assigned schools frequently. Monitors students’ behavior during lunch, between classes, and other times as necessary; provides security of assigned school; trains school staff on safety plans; instructs students and staff in conflict resolution methods; monitors and maintains school camera video recording equipment; and provides traffic control at assigned school, among other duties as assigned. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and formal training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of one (1) year of college education and one (1) year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have completed the SC Criminal Justice Academy Training for a certified police officer. For an uncertified officer, must complete the SC Criminal Justice Academy Training by the end of the assigned probationary period.
A valid S.C. driver’s license in good standing is required. Must pass all required tests and be able to operate standard issue vehicles. Personal computer experience preferred. Completed degree(s) beneficial to position may be partially considered as work experience. Must be in good physical condition. Must be able to maintain required level of proficiency in the use of firearms. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must successfully pass a criminal background check and polygraph examination.
