Citizen Services Clerk - Finance Specialist, Town of Summerville
The primary function of this position is to perform all business license functions as required to maintain the Town of Summerville processes and related clerical duties pertaining to accounts receivable activities.
Other responsibilities will be to learn Building Permit requirements and processing so to expedite the needs of Citizens and provide appropriate back up as needed.
Work involves issuing business licenses and permits; assisting in calculation and questions related to those functions.; Tasks will include Computer input and filing, processing payments for various activities and maintaining proper records as required.
Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one to two years’ experience performing business license, clerical and bookkeeping activities in a local government or with similar public contact; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An Associate’s degree is preferred.
Knowledge of the methods, policies, and procedures of the Finance Department in addition to exemplary skill in customer service and dealing with the public sector.
Knowledge of the organization of the Town and of related departments and agencies. With a knowledge of the principles and practices of modern public administration. Understanding of the modern records management techniques, including legal requirements for recording, retention and disclosure.
