The SC Freedom of Information Act requires all public bodies to give written notice of regularly-scheduled meetings at the beginning of each year. This applies to
- city and town councils,
- public utility boards,
- planning commissions,
- boards of zoning appeals,
- architectural review boards, and
- all other boards, commissions and committees appointed by council.
The notice must give the dates, times and locations of all regularly-scheduled meetings. It must be posted on a bulletin board in a publicly accessible place at the public body's office or meeting place. If the public body maintains a website, it must place the annual notice there as well.
These posting requirements are similar to the requirements for the posting of agendas of individual meetings. Individual meeting agendas must also be placed on a publicly accessible bulletin board at the meeting place and posted on a website, if available. The agendas must also be provided to all individuals, news outlets and organizations who request that agendas be sent to them. All of this must be done at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.
