Every month in 2022, the Municipal Association’s Local Revenue Services is hosting a series of virtual training sessions on the specifics of the business licensing process called “Business Licensing Essentials.” The session on calculating and verifying business license amounts based on gross income will take place Wednesday, April 13, 10 to 11:30 a.m.
The April 13 session will help business licensing officials better understand several of Act 176’s requirements related to calculating business license taxes, including the definition of a business’s gross income, either for the calendar year or fiscal year; allowable deductions when reporting their income; and the documentation the law allows local governments to request of businesses in order to verify that the income they report is accurate.
